Misc. information

General rules
These rules must be strictly respected. Cheaters will be kicked out without warning.

- Only one account per player. You are not allowed to create multiple accounts, nor take the account of someone who leaves the game.

- Password sharing on a large scale is forbidden, it is considered as "multiing" (ie, playing several accounts).

- Occasional password sharing is tolerated. Occasional means: no more than two friends have access to your account, and they should not access it for more than 24 hours each time. If you are going to be away from Hyperiums for more than 24 hours, use the vacation mode.

- managing a list of passwords (as alliance president, or for any other reason) is not forbidden by itself; but a massive usage of these passwords is. Setting up a public system of password-sharing or putting pressure on other players to get their password will be punished. Please report any player doing so to the administrator.

- If the system or the administrator detects suspect behaviours, but is not sure enough to delete the accounts, the concerned players will be flagged as multis together. Check the section below (A.M.S.) for the consequences.

- If you want to leave the game, please do not give your account, your planets or your cash to anybody. Close your account from your Preferences page. It is naturally unfair, although not illegal, to receive cash or planets from a player leaving the game.

Anti Multi Shield (AMS)
The AMS is an automated system integrated in Hyperiums that deals with multis, trying to protect the game from their harmful actions.

First of all, a few words about the need of an automated system against multis.
In all online games like Hyperiums, the possibity for one player to create several accounts is the most usual way of cheating. There is absolutely no ultimate solution to detect a multi. It is simply technically impossible, and it is probably better like that, in regard to everybody's need of privacy on internet.
With thousands of players, trying to find the multis by manual analysis of the data is also doomed to failure. Thus, the AMS, an automated anti-multi system that is not perfect, but that makes life much harder for the multis (and other mass-pass-sharing adepts).

Here are the AMS rules:

- If you and another player have logged in Hyperiums from the same machine within a period of 48 hours (let's call that a suspect login), the AMS will prevent you and this other player from exchanging planets during the next 7 days. If you make a tentative, you will get this message from the system: Anti-Multi Shield: you are not allowed to take control of planet XXXX. The AMS detects a suspect login between you and the planet owner over the last 7 days..

- If you take one of the last two planets of another player, and if a suspect login has been recorded over the past 90 days between you and this player, the AMS will flag you both as multis together.

- If three or more suspect logins are detected within a period of 10 minutes, all concerned players will be flagged as multis by the AMS.

- Being flagged as multis by the AMS does not mean you are cheaters. It means that the AMS, being unable to get further trustable information, will take preventive action in the interest of the game and the whole Hyperiums community.
In concrete terms, players flagged as multis by the AMS will not be able to have any relation in the game:
  * no trade,
  * no infiltration,
  * no fleet or army on the same planet, nor on each other's planets,
  * no cash donation, and so on...

- The AMS flag lasts for 90 days.

No need to ask the administrator for a special treatment, no manual modification of the AMS decisions will be made, in any circumstance. You know the rules, and I believe these rules are quite easy and natural to respect for normal players.
The AMS is not based on IP addresses, so you have nothing to fear if you play normally from behind a corporate proxy or firewall.

Free accounts
You can play Hyperiums for free as long as you want, without limitation (including in the number of planets you are allowed to control). However, by upgrading your account to Contributor, you get access to the following additional bonus features:
- top level technologies: black hole, bombers, migrator ships, camouflage, energy blast,
- maximum number of vacation credits raised from 30 to 60,
- illimited daily number of forum thread creations,
- message filtering, outbox.

If, at any time, you want to upgrade your account to Contributor, you must buy time credits...
- either on the internal market place (maps & markets -> time credits) using ingame virtual money,
- or by
contributing to Hyperiums with real money (Preferences -> Contribute!).

We reserve the right to change at any time the bonus features offered to past and future Contributors.

Cash donation
You are allowed to donate and receive cash to/from any other player as soon as you are 32 days old in a protected cluster, or 16 days old in a non-protected one. The donation form is available from a submenu of your 'Cash' page.

A tax of 20% is taken by the Hyperiums Empire on every donation; this tax will be used to help the newcomers.

Time & ticks
All delays specified in the game are real time delays. They must be understood as maximum delays; for instance, if it is said your fleet will arrive in N hours, the exact delay before arrival is between N-1 and N hours.

All background computings in Hyperiums are done at different frequencies and phases, which will not be communicated to you since they are subject to change for technical reasons without warning. However, the two most important 'ticks' should never change and you may find useful to know their frequency:
- fleets movements are computed every hour,
- cash incomes are computed every eight hours,
- battle rounds are computed every two hours.

Rankings
The main ranking, which is the only public, is the influence ranking. Its computation is quite simple: it is the sum of the influences of the planets you own (that are not captive: captive planets give their influence points to their infiltrator). It is updated once a day around 3 AM server time.

The cumulated amount invested in civilization level determines your official rank within the Hyperiums Empire, according to the following table:
RankRank abbreviationCumulated

EnsignEns0
LieutenantLtn300K
Lieutenant CommanderLt.Cdr2M
CommanderCmdr15M
CaptainCptn100M
Fleet CaptainFlt.Cpt1B
CommodoreCommo10B
Rear AdmiralR.Adm100B
Vice AdmiralV.Adm600B

Fleet AdmiralFlt.Adm9KB

Besides the usual instantaneous rankings (influence, financial and military), the all times ranking shows how long the players lasted in the top 10 of the main ranking. The all times scores are calculated by giving points, each day, to the top 10 players, as follows:
1st player gets 2000 points,
2nd player gets 400 points,
3rd player gets 200 points,
4th player gets 100 points,
5th player gets 50 points,
6th player gets 25 points,
7th player gets 12 points,
8th player gets 6 points,
9th player gets 3 points,
10th player gets 1 point.

Vacation mode
The vacation mode allows you to leave the game for a limited time, without having to close your account or to fear attacks in your absence.
While in vacation mode, your empire is completely frozen: your factories are frozen; enemy infiltrations are suspended and no battle can be initiated on your planets; planet purifying, tech researches, nexus transfers... all processes are frozen. Anyway, you still earn 50% of your income.
Please note that, as soon as the vacation mode starts:
- current battles are not impacted by the vacation mode and continue normally,
- any fleet already moving in attack mode to one of your planets will trigger the battle anyway and may take the planet,
- your fleets and armies located on foreign planets will be engaged in any battle occuring on these planets,
- the stasis field on your planets has no effect during the vacation.

Once you have confirmed and clicked on the "vacation mode" button, your account will not enter vacation immediately, but 72 hours (3 days) later.
You can continue to play normally during the countdown, except you are not allowed to conquer planets.
You can cancel the countdown anytime before it is over. Be aware that cancellation is definitive: the counter is reset, the countdown can not resume from where it was.
The vacation mode engages automatically at the end of the countdown, even if you are logged in at this time.

Once the vacation mode is engaged, you can not login within the next 2 days. The vacation mode ends as soon as you login back after this delay.
The number of days you can stay in vacation mode is linked to your vacation credits. Each vacation day costs one credit, and you get 2 credits each week, up to a maximum of 60 credits. The vacation mode is automatically cancelled if your credit counter falls to zero.

Inactive accounts policy
Here is the Hyperiums policy about inactive accounts:
- never accessed accounts are deleted 6 days after creation.
- during the first 3 weeks, an inactivity delay of 7 days is allowed before the player's game data is erased.
- all other players are allowed an inactivity delay of 14 days.
If you have vacation credits, your account will be automatically set to vacation mode instead of being cleared.
By inactivity, understand no login. So, make sure to logout and login regularly.
When in
vacation mode, a player is not considered as inactive.

The planets of deleted players are turned into neutral, unless they are very young and have no relation with other planets, in which case they are simply cleared and "recycled".
